OK guys heres the deal. I need your input. I don't own a linecounter reel but am going to spring for a couple. I plan on using one for long line trolling with Fireling and one for some leadcore. My problem is which to buy. Should I get the sg17lc or the sg27lc. I figure that you guys have the experience and knowledge that I lack and value your input. Thanks for your opinions.

Geezer- Personaly, I`d use the 17 for the Fireline, and a 47 for running the leadcore. My .02- Bob WC#253.

I think it is a great advantage to have everything the same. The 17 is as of yet unproven, the 27s have been around a long time and are as good as it gets. Personally I would go with the 27s. I have seen lots of folks buy something else only to later replace them with the 27.

Depending on how much leadcore line you will be running, most of the people i know set up the 47lc for leadcore(larger spool capacity for line) the 17 only holds 190 yards of 12 pound diameter, lead core is much bigger than that, and you do want some backing too, as well as some leader line. good luck and good fishin.

i'd buy ONE sg27lc for longlining and then buy a Penn 320 (used on ebay) for the leadcore. Leadcore has segmented colors and I personally dont see the benefit in using a line counter for lead core. If ya like the 27 then add another later.
my 2 cents.

I would buy the 27's for the fire line, but the 17's might be worth a look. I am thinking about buying one just for fire line. I also think get a 47 for lead core, or my choice is a Penn 310 or 320 GTI<

I just got my new Daiwa 17LC/ Depthmaster combo's from Cabela's today and in the manual it says they hold 340 yds of 10lb. line. I got the 8 ft 6 telescoping rod with them. Looks like it'll be a nice set-up.

I have 6 SG27LC's and I love them but I just bought 2 new SG17LC'S and I think for fireline and even 10 or 12 pound mono they will be the way to go. Go for the SG17LC not the Accudepth 17, that is just my personal opinion.
