Theoretically, the Fishmark 320 will offer better resolution and should be an excellent unit. Since Eagle is a subsidiary of Lawrance there is a strong chance it will live up to this. Since it is a new unit this year I doubt you are going to get any feedback from people who have used it on the water. As for the Garmin 240, there are many people who have used it and love it. In both cases you are likely to get an excellent finder, just with the Eagle you are getting one that really has no track record.

I have no experience with the Eagle.
However, I have a Garmin 240 on the console and I absolutely love it. I have a Lowrance X-51 on the bow. It has a faster scroll speed than the Garmin but it takes a little tweaking every time you use it. Once you have the Garmin setup the way you like, it just works. I saw Cabela's has reconditioned Garmin's for a pretty good discount.
Good Luck
hard to say which is better
look at the price and features what you need and what you get with each unit
I doubt you could go wrong with either one of them
one thing also the resolution is higher on the eagle
rebs
I have had a Garmin 240 for 3 years and really like it. I am geting a couple of graphs to rig my new boat and I am also deciding between these two for the bow. The garmin has more power 3,200 watts and 400 rms vs Eagle with 1,500 watts and 188 rms. The Eagle has better resolution with the 320 pixels and a 10 level grey scale vs Garmins 240 pixels and 4 level grey scale.
If you fish deeper water more the Garmin might be a better choice otherwise I would look at both side by side and see which is easier to operate and if you just like one better. As others have said, these are both good units.

This may not be exactly what you are looking for but it is a good comparison of some of the different fish finders and included the Garmin 240. I think you will see that the experts agree the Garmin is a great unit.
