I was wondering if anyone has tried out this new unit from bottom line. The pixel count and screen size are very similar to the lowrance x-15. It sells for $500.00 at cabelas. Any in put would be greatly appreciated.

I think you are referring to the 5100. I think it is a great middle of the road unit for someone who wants quality without the huge price tag. I will have a 6500 on my dash this year and a 5100 on the bow. I like what I've seen so far.

I have a 5300 on my bow and like it a great deal. I run Lowrance at the console and the two defintely have different display characteristics. The bottomLine doesn't mark fish with nice looking arc's like the lowrance products do but once you learn to read what it is displaying it is every bit as effective. Most fish show up as flat horizontal marks in varying shades of grey from light to black. I feel that the 5300 marks fish tight to bottom very well, I have became quite confident in what its showing me. I don't think it shows as many marks as the lowrance products but rarely does it fail that we don't catch fish when it's marking them! This tells me something about both products, but thats a personal opinion. I rely on the lowrance to locate fish and structure but I rely on the bottomline to stay on top of them and target them. Good Luck, both are great products.. RJ in Montana....
