Last weekend we had to release a fish in the slot that was bleeding from the gills. The injury did not appear to be extreme but I had a concern. Is this a dead fish?

Depends on the injury. If it was one gill he has a chance I would think. It's good of you to be concerned. Hopefully he made it.
