Well...the good news is that I finally caught a walleye over 10 pounds this weekend. The bad news is that my scale only goes up to 10 pounds! I'm wondering in any of you would have a rule-of-thumb or a formula to calculate the weight, given the length and girth measurements. Or, because many of you have a whole lot more personal experience with large fish that I do, even an educated guess would be nice. The fish was
31 1/4 inches long with a girth of 16 inches. My humble estimate puts it in the lower 11-pound category. Any input would be much appreciated.

There is a handy website for estimating weights that I picked up off this fine bulletin board a while back. The address is: www.zoo.utoronto.ca/FUN/fishweight/Java_app_fish_weight.html

Plugging your numbers into that website, the weight of your fish would be 10.87 pounds.

Hey, nice fish! Sounds like a 12 pounder to me and it would have been a 13 if it had gotten away.
