Is there a better way to rig a boat that increases the amount of “inputs” available to improve on the old “In-Fisherman” formula: Success = Fish + Location + Presentation?

Current State:
1) The price of technology continues to drop while performance continues to increase.
2) Information is proliferating and more readably available for real time updates.
3) Underwater Video is in the early adopter stage. Indeed, the new Lindner media group is taking it to the “bank”.
4) Offshore technology is not making it’s way inland, at least, from a marketing perspective.
5) Our traditional electronics manufactures are asking for more money based on “tired technology” – have you seen the new Lowrance LCX – 19C selling at retail for $2149

Possible State:

1) Marine ruggedized personal computer – P4 2.0 Ghz 512MB - pre- loaded with Fugawi chartploting software (consider this the onboard server) for $1700

2) CruzPro PcFF20 PC Based DSP Color Fish Finder - $800

3) Sea View Underwater camera BW - $250

4) Maptech 3D contour software - $300

The possibilities go on and on with regard to possible configurations and product availability using the personal computer as a “hub”. My belief is we are on the front edge of “flying by wire” just like our “war birds” do.

What do you think?
