View Full Version : Tournament question...
I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of tournaments that exclude out-of-staters????
And if you have what did they go by boat
registration?????????? or individual addresses???

Never heard of banning out of staters. Most tournaments want as many entries as they can get. I have heard of tournaments banning guys that have fished the PWT though, they refer to those tournaments as an amateur only event. Don't know what address they would use, but it wouldn't matter anyway since I wouldn't fish a tournament with such a stupid rule.
I would like to see Jeff Reed at a tourney,so i could call him an idiot face to face

While understanding the recent "legal" thread and Jeff's strong opinions related to that thread, what does this comment have to do with Ness' question?
Nothing,Just thought I could get Jeff to rave about how us self-righteous smokers with stains in our underwear, might get convicted by a jury of speeding to Peyton Place to help them cheat on their taxes.Mean while I am just an indian gillnetter on my way to a taping of Oprah Winfrey show about O.J.Simpson giving his opion on taking his daughter tourney fishing in another state. He must be an expert on everything,or is he really fibbing us about not being an attorney?
WOW,NOW WHO IS SELF-CONSCIOUS.

Ness, That just does'nt sound right. How big is the tournry???? Small Tavern style? You know how some people get when they feel threatened! What state is it in? Let us know<;{{{{{<<(
Very perceptive of you, Mr. Pike :-) Not a tavern though a local Fish and Game Club. My friend from
Pa. and I have been fishing a certain lake together and decided to inquire about the tournament on it. We brought in a nice bunch of
fish on Sunday to show my husband and kids and were met by the local welcoming committee but the
welcome turned cold when they saw the fish in the
livewells. My friend asked a few questions about
the tournament and the air got even chillier. As
far as I know, these tournaments are open to anyone?????? Even a woman amateur and a seasoned
tournament fisherman from Pa.?????????
Oh, and all the fish were released so that wasn't
the problem.......

Chet, are you a bass-ackwards todi, or are you just trying to be smart. There is no room for such sarcasim and satire here. I am serious. This is no laughing matter. Wipe that smile off your face.
my guess....

Hey Ness,
I'm guessing your livewell was full of smallies right? You said you released all of them right?
Well, maybe they got mad because you did not release them right away. You should take a camera with you next time. The husband and kids can wait for the picture. Fish take certain abuses in livewells. Better to release them right away if that is what you plan on doing anyway.
You said the air just got chilly...but you didn't say whether or not they said "NO" you could not fish the tourney.
As far as I know, anyone from anywhere can fish any tourney they want to..
What did they say? Or, didn't you really find out for sure?
Sounds like you and Buster kicked some butt, and they don't want that much competition...;-)
Juls
I know of "club" tournaments which are restricted to club members.

Ness, maybe the problem was not you being out of staters.maybe it is your gender.sounds to me that you can catch fish and that might worrie these matcho fisherman.go enter the tourney and kick their butts.get em in the net
Juls, Denny won't release fish once he's onto a location and catching. He says that a caught fish
gives off a scent.... kind of like us sweating when scared, and that you'll shut down the fishing if you release them in the area that you're catching them in. Hence, the full livewells...
And I've fished there enough that they know that I
release my bass so no, I don't think that was the
problem. You have to remember that I live in Hicksville, N.Y. :-) The local boys pride themselves on their hunting and fishing skills.
Someone who can out fish them and isn't a local,
heaven forbid....

Take your best shot Pal and show your lack of intelligence. I'll be at Hoyle's Marina fishing the MWT's Tournament on Saginaw Bay. Maybe I might even buy you a beer.

Jeff,at least you have a sense of humor, maybe I should lighten up a bit and buy you that beer. Here in Pa.there are so many anglers that thrive on the gray areas of the law that it ticks me off everytime i here of such a thing as this.Okay guys go ahead and rip on me for changing my attitude,I can take it, and Chet again I appologize for putting your name in the reply box.Guess I'm the idiot.Have a good day!!!

Frank was chet # 2 or who ever the heck you are. It is nice to see your willing to kiss and make up. I wont rip you for changing your mind, as I think it is commendable of you to acknoledge some of the humor that gets posted. only dick-heads call each other idiots. We don't need any more of that name-calling here. I sincerly hope you and Jeff can sit down and get together over a couple of drinks to "debate". Of course keep in mind that the more you drink, the more confident you become. In other words, you might want to pound the booze, in order to keep up with Jeff intelectualy. Again, CHEERS! 10-4!
