are they legal to use in WI to catch minnows? Is there a size limit on the net?

Yes, It's legal to sein minnows in Wi. I believe the maximum length of the net is 35ft. No more than 50 dozen minnows of any single species is allowed in poss. unless you are under 16 then I believe it's 5000 minnows. Also, no netting is allowed on tributaries of the Great lakes to the first dam or lake. Another regulation that should be followed is the mesh of the net cannot be larger than 1/2" stretched. I think if you follow those regs. everything should be good to go.
Do you mean a cast net (the kind you do that rediculous albatross over the shoulder throw with) or a seine that you drag up a stream?
