I just bought a '97 GMC 2500 to put my camper on and wanted some input as to the best mirrors to put on the truck to be able to see around the camper. Thanks for any info.

I have a 2002 Silverado 2500 HD, tow my Triton 205 and also tow a fifth wheel. I installed CIPA extendable mirrors, they work GREAT!. Here is a link. http://www.aztrucks.com/Category.asp?product=168

The mirrors mentioned by jarneson are excellent (but spendy).

CIPA also makes some "slip on" mirrors which fit over your existing mirrors and can be taken off when you dismount the camper. I use them on my 2001 Silverado when pulling a 5th-wheel RV. They run about $40.00 for a set (the left and right side are different).

You can see them online at

It will depend on the width of the camper. The slip-on mirrors will work on campers narrower than mine, but I found them useless when I tried them.
My camper has a queen-sized bed crossways plus a foot wide storage compartment in the overhead. The camper is as wide as my boat trailer. I have to use those dumb looking mirrors that clamp on the fenders, and they have to be adjusted almost as wide as they will go. All I can see of my boat trailer is the tires and wheels.
Maybe that's why Fleetwood calls their narrow campers the "Angler" models.
