Need someones help! I have a great little screwdriver that fits the screws on my baitcasters perfect. I would like to magnetize it. Then it would be much easier to install them without so much dropping them little buggers. So how do I do it. It"s not made out of stainless, so it should be able to magnetize it right?
Thanks Bob J. pool 12

Go to your local hardware store, ask for a screwdriver magnetizer and it will come with directions. Or, you could just take the screwdriver, take a magnet, and rub the screwdriver along the magnet a few dozen times.

If you happen to work in a factory with a machine shop have them put it on the electromagnet of a surface grinder for a few seconds.
I am constantly demagnatizing my hand tools from being near them or from working on something that was machined on one and not demagged afterward.

now if you really want to magnetize it ;take a length of INSULATED wire and wrap around the shank, then hold one end of wire on negative post of 12 volt battery and strike other end of wire across the positive post two or three times... i have done this many many times and have never had a problem.just remember to strike and not hold...

Also don't forget to duck when the battery explodes.
