Hey guys, I'm looking for opinions and suggestions for lakes in the U.S. and Canada that offer great perch fishing along with a chance at some good walleye or northern. I know all about the lakes in Minnesota but with their lower bag limits this year me and my buddies have decided to expand our horizons. We don't want to go to Devils Lake as we figure everyone else will go there instead of Winnibigosh. This is the only trip we take together each year and want it to be a good one. Any suggestions?

NE South Dakota. Webster area. Great place to stay is the Bunkhouse Motel. Great website with info updated weekly is glpta.org. I have had some of the finest perch & walleye fishing combo trips in this area!! Winter fishing is also awesome!
Actually, if you check the MN fishing regulations - the MN/SD border has reduced Perch Limits - but there doesn't appear to be reduction on other lakes - to quote from the DNR rules
Perch Continuous 100*
*Until December 1, 2000. Then it will be 20 daily and 50 in possession.
So starting December of 2000 - the limit will go down - in State wide lakes - but until then - enjoy the daily limit of 100.
Take care

basically there is perch and salmon...not perch and walleye...but lake michigan is still full of big ones....out of the port of indiana some of the locals really nail them....lots of 11-14 " perch lately....but only 15 limit...if you go to michigan you may take 35 daily...new buffalo is good right now...south haven and ludington are good also....steelhead are ready to break open at burns ditch where i fish a lot....got a limit of perch today but most were small....have been getting really large perch for two wks....steelies had one run so far and they really are fun to catch....if you come this way i could give you a crash coarse on salmon...steve
Sounds like you need to take a trip to Lake Mendota in Madison, WI. Awesome perch fishery, big walleyes (hard for me to find though - lol), and nice pike.
Best Regards,

Ditto, The perch bite on Waubay is awesome right now, which is frustrating some people fishing for walleyes because the perch seem to be everywhere. There's some nice fish being caught, and 13 and 14 inchers are fairly common in Waubay and Bitter. From what I heard the bite in Waubay is picking up for walleyes in the last week, it was pretty slow, and I don't think there's better pike water in SD than Waubay and Bitter. Just remember not to plan on eating many fish from Bitter.
I can get you more specific details if you need them. Feel free to email me.
