Just bought two dipsy divers and ths snubbers. Have been to the Lurh Jensen web page and it only gives info on the divers. I'm assuming that the snubbers would hook up behind the line. Seems to me that is where the the shock absorber should be. Is that correct? Also is there a specific type of fishing that the snubbers are need-- such as salmon or skamania fishing where the strike is violent, or is it for all big fish types? Thanks in advance, God bless.

The snubber goes in between the Dipsy and the leader to the lure. They are definately needed when fishing for salmon and steelhead to keep the leader from being snapped by the hit. I used to have some mini-snubbers that would probably be great for walleye, but have not seen them available in quite a few years. Since the trolling speed for walleye is usually pretty slow (compared to salmon), I would guess that snubbers are not really needed. Couldn't hurt, but not absolutely necessary!

i fish all species of salmon and the only one which really needs the snubbers are the steelhead and skamania....they have literally torn welded "o" rings thru my flutter spoons and straightened split rings when i have forgotten to put snubbers on....and my drags were definately not too tight...i use 17 lb test and set my 47H daiwas at 6 lb drags.....the problem is when you run long lines the pressure the steelhead exert does not get to the reel on time....the mono stretches just enough that by the time the pressure gets to the reel its over....fish has broken the lure...we were using light tackle just last wk and fishing for steelies just for fun and a young fisherman on board hooked a nice one...no snubber used....it jumped four times and spit the hook...a large piece of its lip was imbedded in the hook...he had to use the scissors to get it off!!!! steelhead just go wild when hooked...i got one on a 12' noodle last yr...a riot...kings on the other hand never seem to need a snubber when i catch them...and we get a lot of them also...they just run deep...don't do the acrobatics and don't put the same stresses on the lures...so i use snubbers on steelies only...if i think of it...steve
We run a superbraid line on all our Dipsys and with superbraids I'd say snubbers are a necessitiy for all species. Good luck
