View Full Version : First-Aid
We will be taking a Fly-Out this summer with my Dad and Uncle 73 and 74. And also 5 other guys. Which got me thinking about being prepared for all kinds of health related mis-haps.
Outside of the usual band-aids, etc. What would kind of supplies should be in a First -Aid kit for fisherman.
And what is something that you carry now, because you didn't have it and which you had.
Thanks,
Ivy

If you really want to be prepared you should take a CPR class.
Anything that does not require CPR they will probably live. You might have to tie up a splint with some rope incase of broken bone, or tie off bloodflow if someone loses a limb somehow. Other than that I can't think of anything else besids the basic stuff.

Satillite phone (rental unit) would be a good idea with guys that old.

Definately CPR, a pair of heavy wire cutters and needle nose for removing hooks from body parts. Super Glue - works great to seal up a cut that otherwise might need some stiches, Pain releivers and anti-inflammitories for muscle strains on the older gentleman-(or strain on the younger one pulling all the gear!:)) If they have specific problems that require medication- don't keep it all in one spot. That way if they need it and can't find it or it is wet or whatever, you have some set aside for this. It's better to be prepared and not use it than need it and not have it. - Good Luck
