I think there are many of us who can help first time boat owners by stating a few things about our boat that we either like or dislike. It may be as simple as where the livewell is located or no place to mount electronics. It might even help some of us pick our next one!

I have owned an aluminum targa since 96 and here are a few likes and dislikes.

I like:

1. The width of the boat.(easy to get around in.)

2. The single console(same reason as above)

3. The deep sides and v-hull (feel safer,I sunk a boat once)

4. How it handles rough water.(probably true for all v-hulls)

5. Total cost

6. Easy to tow

I do not like:

1.How the front end sets and bobs in the water
(hard to keep trolling motor in the water)
I have to fill the livewell and put all the
weight up front

2.Taper lock seats(can't remove without a crowbar)

3.Trolling in the wind(very hard to control direction
with a light boat and one that sets too high in the
water)

4.Sorry trailer (would only buy aluminum)

Yea, I know it's a Tracker but overall its been a good one.

What I like about mine... It's completely paid for. It also fishes fine and I have no problems with the trolling motor coming out of the water.

what i like about glass over aluminum is the solid feel of the boat in rough water. you don't get that back breaking jaring when you come down on a wave every time. secondly they are alot nicer looking these days.

I shopped three seasons for exactly the right boat and rigged it to exactly meet my needs, a ProMag 161, 90HP, PinPoint 3700/7520/7500, Lowarance GlobalMap 2400. What's not to like???????? ;-)

Walk softly and carry a big fish.

There is not a boat out there that meets my requirements for comfort. I bought a 2003 rig this last summer after researching boat/motor/trailer manufactures for over a year. I still ended up making many modifications. I have pictures of these modifications and my wish list for boat/motor changes at:

Dave G,

Looks like you got your ride set up very well. I really like your pole holder. Nice job!

Fish for them all...

I have a 1999 Starcraft 19.5 foot aluminum with a merc 115
what I like about it is everything
what I dislike there is nothing to dislike

it handles great
it runs 45 mph
it has plenty of storage it trolles great
it has 2 casting seats for bass fishing
it is the best boat I have owned

I ought it from Paul at Bow and Stern marine on River Road in Tonawanda NY
and his service is second to none
they are great people and I would recommend anyone to them and a Starcraft Boat
