The Scott Atwater motor was popular in the 1950s in Texas when I was stationed there in the Air Force. I believe that MCulloch bought them out and they were around for a short time after that. I may be wrong abought which company bought them.

A buddy of mine had a 45 hp McCullough, which was the same design, as mentioned by Dylan. It was actually a pretty good motor, but just about impossible to get parts for. I tinkered with it and kept it running for him for about two years, but the housings on the coils cracked and we couldn't find replacements, so he sold it.

Yes, I think you'll find that Scot-Atwater was the first to offer F-N-R gear shift on small outboard motors. We bought one in 1951. I only wish we had kept it.

I had one also. One thing I rememeber well was the auto bailer system it had as i had to use it once. Clear hose hooked to a suction on motor
someplace and it sucked out any water in boat.
