I am seeking any input fishermen might be able to give about the Little Bay De Noc area for spring or summer fishing. I am interested in going there sometime this spring or summer and just wondering what to expect. I hear that some nice fish are caught just kinda wondering fish size? numbers of fish caught, what type of presentations used, and lodging?? Any help from fellow fishermen would be of great help.

Thanks alot

That area has good fishing pretty mych all year round. There are two guides who are very open withe information. Go to www.fishinglittle baydenoc, this is Capt. Marty Papke' site. He will keep you informaed on what is biting and answer any questions you may have. you can also go to his links page and click on Capt. Darrell Middlestad. He is another very good guide that will help you out.

Good luck,
Scott

Split,

I fished Little Bay 2 years ago, I stayed at the Super 8 in Escanaba, the hotel was remodeled not that long ago. It was very. It had lots of room in the parking lot for boats. It also had plug in's for your battery charger. There were 2 boat ramps close by in opposite directions.
Now the fishing was average, I did my best in the morining and late at night. I got my limit on walleyes but some days I really had to work at it! The Zebra mussels have cleaned up the water. Everyone I spoke with says the night bite is better. I don't know if you are interested, but I caught a show on TV this past fall and they were catching some "MONSTER" eye's on Big bay, all they were doing is trolling. I am even thinking about going up to Big bay this year, along with ERIE.

A great tip

Hi. I suggest calling Bayshore Resort. They are the Resort and bait n Tackle shop right next to the Kipling launch. Nice place, great info, best tackle and bait supply around and you can keep your boat right in the water if you stay there. they also have info on a few good area Guides and captains. Keith Wills Comes to mind,,,,, http://www.bay-shore-resort.com/

Walleye season opens somewhere around May 15th and *generally* stays good until the alewifes move in around mid-June. Until mid-June, pick your favorite technique and go for it. Then, due to the abundance of forage, the walleye fishing does get tougher. They still can be caught, but alot of guys then run into open water and mostly troll. By the end of July, the alewifes are typically out of there and the walleye fishing tends to pick up. You can pop walleyes out of the weeds, or hit them in the outer bay.

IMO, Lindberg's Cove is the place to stay. Nice clean cabins, the best dockage on the bay, good grounds. Between Esky and Rapid River, there are a ton of places to stay, but only a few that will have their own docks (Lindbergs, Stemec's, Bayshore, Rod/Reel, Brock's, Nirvana and Vagabond). I like not having to deal with launching and retrieving every day or leaving the boat at the marina.

Have fun.
