Would like to know what connections I need to make to use 2- 12 volt batteries on a 12 volt trolling motor. Thanks & good fishing !!!

Go to your local auto parts store and get 2 lengths of 6 gauge wire for battery terminals to fit your needs. The cables are cheaper there.
Next hook the positive to the positve and the negative to the negative leads. Attach your trolling motor wires for the 12 volt system to "just one battery". Walllaaaahhh!!!
You now have 2 12 volt batteries in parallel.
OK?

Thanks for the help. Usually use just 1 bat. Got a second free so wanted to hook them up. Fishing the river this spring. Sure would be nice to have the extra juice. Thanks again....

That's how I run my batteries and it works great. You'll find you have enough juice to run all day without running down your batteries. One thought, I've heard when your running batteries this way they are only as good as your weekest battery. Something to think about if the other battery is older.

You should consider hooking the Positive TM cable to one battery and the other Negative TM cable to the other battery. This will allow the TM to draw more evenly off both batteries.
I agree with Mp35. That is definately how you want to hook your batteries.

Unless you have a lot of resistance in the negative or positive wires between the two batteries....poor connections, smaller wire, or long run....there isn't any difference which battery you hook up the negative lead. They're both the same point from an electrical stand point.

I've always wondered about something when running batteries in parallel... do you have to do anything special when charging? Specifically I was wondering about on-board chargers; will the automatic sensors for the three-stage chargers work properly charging in parallel?
