How thick is the ice in your area? With these cold temps, it's really making ice!

26" In NE Wisconsin...almost time to get the extension out. We've had "fishable" ice since the week before Thankgiving....Ice usually goes out the week before the "opener".

In the Northwest Lower Peninsula of Michigan...

Small lakes: 18" to 26" of solid blue

Medium size lakes: 6" to 10" of white and slushy mix (Lot's of snow fell while forming)

Large lakes: 6" to 12" solid blue

The bays of Lake Michigan: (ie; East and West Grand Traverse Bays) Water skiing time! (Oh that sounds cold!)

The ice here in CT is anywhere between 8 and 12 inches. More ice than we have had here in years!

I can imagine if anyone is heading up to LOW or Red in N Minn you will need an extension for the auger about now.
There is nothing like drilling until you are up to the gearbox on the auger and having to pull out early to get rid of the chips so the box will fit down in the hole to finish it to the water.

After reading this post it sounds a little X rated but it's not it clear ice :)

We're pushing over 3'. We will have to get the extensions out for tommorow. I can just imagine in 3 weeks when we drill 1000+ holes for our fishing derby.

In Colorado, we don't have any water, thus no ice! :-)

Most of the lakes in Oneida co Wisconsin are between 22-28 inches with 10 inches of snow on top of that. The lows are dipping way down there now. -20 this morning. The fish don't seem to mind. Got some nice perch and a 20inch eye on 4lb test jiggin yesterday.
