I picked up the 03 Cabelas marine catalogue and they no longer carry Pinpoint Trolling motors, it is to bad Motorguide bought them. Maybe Bombardier will buy them out from Motorguide. Boy they sure drove good product under. Also saw the Minn Kota hands free, to cool.

MotorGuide is putting out the new Pinpoint enabled Motorguide motors like the old PP3700 motors. They are saying late March. But, no pricing is even available yet?!?!?!

I wish MinnKota would have bought them instead.

Motorguide had a interesting strategy, buy the co. take the technology and run it into the ground, go figure, you think they could have done something more with it. I bought my Pinpoint system before I knew about the Motorguide mess, they had a great track record. I probebly would not buy them again.

Ya, I didn't like Motorguide before and like them less now! They better work on the durability of their units before they can expect people to pay $1700.00 for one with PP in them!

I've been very happy with my Pinpoint graphs and the 3700 trolling motor that I bought back in 1999. I dread the day that I have to go back to a "regular" trolling motor.

Big Bass - Are you saying that Motorguide is incorporating the 3700 technology (5 transducers with tracking capability) into one of their motors and launching a new product in March??

Purchased mine in 2001 had problem running setup. Called factory and a tech person talked me through it. Bought a 7820 last summer and it interfered with marine radio reception. Called customer service this time and got motor guide and was told this couldn't happen. The 7820 connects directly to the trolling motor. A person from another list told which me which filter to buy from Radio Shack, I am not an electronics person so I had my brother in law do it. Works fine, but why didn't the customer service tech from motor guide at least try to understand, he just kept saying radio could interfere with graph but not the other way. Just gripes me that original techs knew there stuff and new owners don't or won't.

I bought my Pinpoint 3700 back in early 1998 and it’s been stone cold reliable ever since.

It’s my understanding that the founder of Pinpoint died and that’s why it ended up in Motorguide’s hands. It’s also become very apparent, that quality control and customer service went down the tubes, under the new owners.

IMHO, it's a crying shame that Minn Kota didn't buy Pinpoint.

Nuff said.
