Looking at purchasing a Zercom Pro Plus with speed and temp and wondered what owners think of this unit.
Thanks!

I have the zercom cid-40. I only use it when rippin accross the lake to find drop offs and such. I can't mark a jig on it, and don't think I've marked a fish on it. Oh.. wait a min, I did mark my jig once. I cranked the sens real high and it showed the jig going up and down, but there was so much interference with the sense so high. I would opt for one of the lcd finders around, I like my Eagle way way better. The zercom also interferes with my Eagle.

good luck..

I have an LCF 40 and the Pro and am very satisfied with the operation of both. Ran Eagle flashers before and the target seperation is considerably better on the Zercom's. Does a much better job over weeds also. With proper transducer installation and proper use of sensativity the unit will do an excellent job.

Dbl,

What are the proper settings for the zercom? what sensitivity etc do you typically use?

thanks.

Hi Mako. I posed the original question. I am currently running a Zercom LCF 40 and Clearwater Classic. Use my LCF 40 to run high speed and Classic when trolling. I can run both run at the same time with no interference. I have no problem marking fish, etc with either unit. I typically turn the units up until I get a second echo and then just a touch more for my settings. I am looking at the Pro Plus because I would like to have speed and surface temp and have had great luck with the Zercoms. Thanks for your response!

Deehawk hit the nail on the head with the settings. Increase sensitivity until the second echo is shown and you will for the most part have the proper settings. As you move over different bottoms, sand, mud etc. you will have to adjust your settings. That is an excellent way to keep track of transition zones.

The Zercom is a great unit. I would recomend a X-65, or 75 by Lowrance. Better yet buy a Lowrance for the boat and The Zercom for the ice shack. :)

I've had Lowrance, Hummingbird and Zercom flashers. Zercom is the best in my application, by far. I use it on my big water boat. I also have a uniden flasher on another boat. It's a pretty good unit. I picked it up at a flea market and put it on just so I had something to measure the depth. It is surprisingly a nice unit.
