The wife and I are planning on taking our Tyee 1950 and spend a few days and nights cruising around the Islands. We plan to tent camp and worse case, sleep on the boat. Any information regarding which islands to avoid or which islands are a "must see" would be appreciated. Unfortunately, I probably won't be doing much fishing this trip.

oak island is a wonderful island. Being that is does have a really hightop to it. If you go up one of the trails before sunset and watch it from up there it is gorgeous!!! But on the way back down bring a flashlight(i forgot to and had a few troubles getting back)
One thing i do suggest is that if you bring your boat out there, you may want to bring a few anchors with becasue if you camp on an area that does not have a dock, your boat goes on shore...then at night when your sleeping it gets pushed up further on shore and gets deep in the sand. if your family doesn't mind walking in the water a little bit anchor a few yards off so you don't have this problem. Believe me about this, even a 16ft tiller with a 40h.p. was pretty difficult to push out of the sand.
I don't have much experince with the other island, but madiline is a zoo in the summer because of the roads. I've been told "Hermit" island is really neat to explorer, but never been out there.
Oak is a real must for a sunset though!!!
Bring god walking shoes because if you do any explorering you will be walking in some semi-rough terrian, but very rewarding.
Look for the caves when your cruising around the islands. You may even see a bear on some of the islands, espically oak and madeline. they walk out there when it is frozen and kinda get stuck.
Enjoy your trip...i had a blast out there

Make sure that you take something to get away from the black flys. They are unreal at certain times of the year, and you will need shelter! Also, I know that one of the islands has old logging equipment left from the 1920's, I can't think of the name, if your interested ask the locals.
Have fun
I believe it is Stockton Island that has a State campground on it.
It has an area to dock.
