I'm looking to burn up a $75.00 Cabelas gift certificate on some minnow baits for trolling. What ones would you get? Any special colors? I troll on the Great Lakes primarily with hot n'tots. I'm looking to use them for trolling in the springtime, I have a few reef runners, smithwicks, & rapalas. Are there any sizes & colors that you consider you must have for springtime fishing?

Chad- On the Great Lakes, don`t leave home without any Reef Runners in "Purple Demon", GREAT color. Also, don`t forget Yozuri`s Crystal Minnows, both the shallow and deep runners. In the color department add clown, firetiger to the previous post also. Have fun shopping! Bob WC#253.

I would add Smithwicks Rattlin' Rogues to the above list.

Chad.. you nor your responders were specific to which area of Erie you fish. Color choice will vary depending where you are at.

I use just 2 style baits, Renosky Crystalinas or Reef Runners. Both have great action and are big Erie producers.

i've had good luck with yozuri's pin's minnow-90. its a smaller sized bait but i feel that early in the year it matches the forage size. it also runs true at faster speeds than many minnow baits. my favorite color has been purple/silver.
