I have been to Chamberlain 6 times in my life fishing for walleye. Everytime I was there the eyes bit well. However, they were all 16 inch fish.
I hear this alot. That Francis Case is known as a nice "limit" res, but is not known to be the place to catch a hog. Even the PWT limits (2yrs ago) were not all that impressive. Is there any truth to this, or are we not in the right place.

Your observations mirror mine exactly. Catching the under 17" fish can be accomplished many times but the fish over 23" are far and few between. If you are wanting to fish strickly for master angler walleye you will be ahead fishing the Great Lakes, Lake Winnepeg, Lake of the Woods, etc.
The spawn on Francis Case last year was a disaster with the water levels dropping during spawning time. This coming year looks to be another year of short snowfalls and below normal runoff.

have fished this area many many times, the fishing reports will tell you that limits of 1 1/2 to 2lb. are common. I don't think I have ever seen a 2lbr. and very few that would go 1 1/2. It is now a joke among my fishing partners, that when one of us catches a 10 incher, its a 1 1/2 to 2 lbr.

Have been fishing out in chamberlain the last seven years and I don't know where you guys are fishing but we've caught quite a few fish over 21". Fished a tournament last year caught 2 at 21", 1 at 25", and 1 at just over 27". Sadly we kept the 21's right away and had to throw the others back. A real kick in the you-know-where. A 10 1/2 lber was weighed in on sat of that same tournament. If you've only fished out there during the summer I can understand you saying that but we usually fish from ice off (end Feb-beginning Mar) til mid Nov. Usually don't fish there June-Aug cause your chances of catching even a fish over 18" is slim. spring and fall are the times to be there. But to say the quality fish aren't there is pretty ignorant if you ask me.
