is there anyone with some "long term" experience with these engines.

economy?
reliability?
performance?

i know they are new but if i'm going to but one i'd like to see some historical data from real people!

Chuck,
There is no historical data. This is the first year this engine has been released. Go to fordtrucks.com, they have a number of articles on the motor including tests against comparable motors as well as independent reviews of the 6.0. It is supposed to be a beast for towing. Good luck

The place most Ford diesel owners hang out. This link is for the new 6.0 only

You would be smart to consider Ford's "Power Stroke V8". I don't know what the price difference is, but we have Power Strokes in all our company's 1 ton trucks. Pulling equipment all the time and some have 250K miles and still running great. Pulling a boat or lg. camper - you won't know it's behind you.

Sounds like the 6.0 is even worse than the 7.3, I didn't think that was possible. Navistar hits rock bottom....

I also would go with the power stroke. If your interested I can get these used at wholesale prices in supercab or crew. If your interested Email me at wallenater@aol.com

Iv'e got an 02 7.3 with 5" exhaust and chip. Thought I was king of the hill till buddy bought the 6.0. What a huge improvement and I didn't think them could improve on the 7.3.. Wish I would of hung on to my other Power Stroke for another 190,000 till the 6.0 came out. You should see how the truck runs when he puts it in the Tow Mode the whole shifting pattern changes for the weight of the trailer..
Also in 04 Ford will change body style..

I started a couple of threads talking about how the 6.0 stompted all (Cummins-Duramax and the Hemi) empty and loaded. Someone added two wonderful links to the comparisions that backed up what I had said. Could that person kindly post those links again? (I cannot find them in the archives)

I would like to think that Navistar (International) did their homework on this engine. The stakes here are REALLY high.

(As soon as Mercury makes a 6.0D-Tronic like their 7.3D-Tronic you will find one or two strapped down in the bowels of my boat!)

Boy Sark, I'm getting tired of following you around! I just left you on that other thread about gas vs. diesel. What motors are you talking about putting in the bowels of your boat?

I just purchased a new 03last month I chose to stick with the 7.3. They wanted an additional $3500 for the 6.0 and there was no rebates available for the Superduty with the 6.0. I think I saved around $4500 by sticking with the 7.3.
