I realize this is a little forward thinking, but I am looking for another source for ice fishing rod blanks. I built a few poles last year and have people asking for more. Any source will help. Thanks in advance.
Now that ice fishing has become more popular you may be able to find blanks somewhere on the net. In the past a friend of mine would just call Loomis or St. Croix or whomever and ask if they had any broken blanks that could be used for ice rods. He now has contacts at several companies and he is going to get some "seconds" next week from one of the afore mentioned companies for $10 a piece. I'm going to have him pick me up a couple of Muskie, Walleye and Bass blanks. He is a smooth talker but both Loomis and St. Croix have always been very accommodating.

A reliable supplier for ice fishing blanks is called Wild River Distributing. They are located in a town called Marine on the St. Croix which is just northest of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The phone number is 651-433-2217. They have a full line catalog of rod building components including handles, guides, tieing thread, and rod blanks. You should be able to get any blank action that you want at this time of the year. However, as the fall progresses the supply depreciates quickly. Good fishin and rod tieing.

Duane-
Another source for rod blanks is Thorne Bros in Mpls. They build many custom rods for both open water and ice, and should be able to supply you what you need. Their Phone # is 572-3782.
