Looking to build a 7'6" or 8' 1 pc or telescoping trolling rod for longlining walleyes, the only blank out there I see that I like is the St. Croix GT80m SCI. The blank alone is 50-60$. I have no problem paying that much, but I see that most large tackle companies such as Abu-Garcia, Shimano, Berkley, Quantum all offer these Rods ready to go for anywhere between 40 up to 100$.

Someone has got to make these blanks for these companies; WHO? & How can I get them?

Please advise, I am new to rod building and need help..

Get with my partner Jeff Fore at jeffs@cgtelco.net and he may be able to tell you where you may get them cheaper. He also builds rods on the side and does great work. He might be able to give you some help or information.
Tell him Kevin sent you.

The St. Croix G80M is a fantastic blank to fabricate trolling rods from. You can buy seconds from Wild River Distributing for about $15 to 20. They are located northeast of Minneapolis / St. Paul Minnesota. Their phone number is 651-433-2217. They sell a complete line of rod building components including handles, guides, etc. I use this blank and trim it down to 7'-6". With the shorter length I can also use the same rod for pulling three ways and bottom bouncers in a hand held or dead rod situation. Good fishin and happy rod tieing.
