Looking to buy a old 83' 12 foot Aluminum meyers boat for my first boat. It has a few dings, and small bumps to it like any aluminum boat. Doesn't leak and comes with a (rusty, old) shorelander and no motor. The guy wants 300 for it but i think that is way to much. Am i right to think that. Also does anyone have any info on them, like quality, owner satisfaction.

Meyers Boats were made in Tecumseh Michigan, 5 miles from where I live - They have always been well made boats as the new ones are today / they make several models. These days, they are made in Adrian Michigan by a friend of mine who bought the business - their making nice boats. Your purchase depends on size and condition of boat - then same for trailer / compare shop for getting your answer. Even though it's your first boat, ensure that it's capable of meeting your needs - that's it's something you like. You can sand blast and clean old trailers up - if the trailer amounts to anything to begin with / measure good because this will be your FISHING BOAT. A little width and depth is good.

About 10 years ago I purchased an old Duo 12ft Aluminum boat that had paint flaking off all over it, and a broken wooden front bench. The trailer was a real light Sears with no working lights. I paid $200 for it.
I stripped the boat, applied an etching primer and painted it, had someone fabricate me an aluminum front seat and mounts, and added an anchor mate and oars. I also sanded the trailer and painted it, put on new lights and wiring, and new tires. I sold it for $400 after fishing it for 4 years. Probably made/lost nothing but enjoyed the ride.
300 sounds like a pretty fair price. Try to think of how much more (oars, anchors, life preservers) you need to buy or the ownwer can throw in. Hope this helps, and enjoy. There is never a boat as special as your first.

Thanks, i'm only 16 and this will be MY OWN first boat and i want to spend my money wisely. I knew i could depend on this message board for help. You're all a bunch of helpful people. And i called the guy back and before i could even offer him $250 for it he said that he lowered the original price to $250, so i offered him 200 and he's gonna think about it. I also bought a Johnson 5 1/2hp. motor. I think it's a 1962. I bought the motor and a gas tank for 40 dollars at an auction. So thanks again.
