View Full Version : Calibrating speed on an X-85

I'm aware there is a way to do this and have tried doing this with the plus or minus a certain percentage. This is fairly straightforward, but now my speedometer on the X-85 jumps erratically between .4 and 2.4 or so??

I know the true GPS is a lot better indicator of speed towards the top end, but what about when slowly trolling?

Any Ideas? Thanks

I have an x75, and I found that the speed on it is way off at high speeds, around 20 percent, but at trolling speeds, it's just about right on. I have no idea why. The general rule is that paddle wheels are more accurate at trolling speed and GPS is more accurate at high speeds. I quit trying to calibrate my paddle wheel because it screwed up my trolling speeds also. I just use it at the default setting.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-13-00 AT 01:18PM (CST)[p]That's what I checked it with, and I'm assuming also that the handheld gps speed is accurate at high speeds. We tested that in a car once, and it was within 1 mph at 75 mph. The handheld did weird things going slower than 5 mph, so I don't really trust it.
