Come on guys strap your nuts on. I have had probably 100 people e-mail and say they might attend. They have to ask their wife, their boss, their priest, their psychic etc, etc, etc,. I am especially disappointed in my Colorado and Wyoming brethern. I have guys like Gunga Din who are pulling their boats across the Rockies and Scott/KC driving 600 miles. They didn't have to ask their wive's permission! #####, Crash is coming in from the Big Apple, "but then New York City is not a place for the meek hearted". Are you afraid Juls might show up and out fish and drink you? I may have to require all Colorado Anglers to wear a skirt all weekend if this disturbing trend continues. What about our Nebraska neighbors? Just think how much grief you can give us CO guys about the next upcoming *** kicking the Huskers will put on the Buffs. But then maybe you guys can't fish as well as you talk smack about football!
And talk about betrayal! My fishing buddie and partner Eric/CO will be going to Mexico, for a salt water excursion his dad is springing for. Are his prioities screwed up, or what? I was counting on him to give a one hour seminar one Carp tactics and recipes at the campground amphitheator.
So no more excuses. Everyone find your stones and make your reservations. Or I may have to make reservations for the Lake Erie get-together, where all the real men and Juls are!

Sounds like another challege you CO boys will lose. Go Big Red.

LOL, you are so funny Neal. Guess you'll get along great with Golden!
Hope turnout is good at Glendo Get-together! And if not, make sure you get your reserve setup for Huron OH early. hehe jk... Suppose (speaking from experience) many will only be able to determine a month or less in advance if they can come. Be patient. Then there's that RCL tourney... which definitely outrules Juls ability to come!

I was counting on learning some of the secrets of you walleye wizzards out there.

Hopefully Sheila is right and we are just to far out, time wise still. But I keep having this same nightmare every night, of you me, the ghost of Sitting Bull and the two Scotts sitting around a campfire in an empty campground listning to Crashs subway horror stories.

Hey Neal-
I would show up to your shing-ding but I will be to busy getting skunked at Sterling. If you could recruit some Budweiser girls then I might re-think the party.
Neal/CO
07-12-2000, 10:37 AM
Doesn't sound like you will have North Sterling around to make fun of much longer. It, Prewitt, Jumbo and Jackson may all be at Dead pool by Sept 1st if the drought continues.

Is it really 600 miles??? I thought you told me 60 miles. Man, I better think about this. I have never been out of the county. Is there a library or Borders Books nearby? I usually spend my evenings there, reading the dictionary and drinking decaf. What about a Houlahans? They have terrific fried cheese sticks and buffalo wings (mild.) Is anyone sponsoring this? I think Snapple would be a good sponsor. I have lawn darts and various board games I can provide in case the fish aren't biting.

No you are confused. I told you 60 was Huskers SAT score.

HEY!! its not like I'm freak'n John Rocker or something!!
Heres one for ya tho-
Last year sometime I was heading to work on the ol #4 train and since I'm the biggest guy on the train, (and the fact I look like a cop), I sleep the whole way. I woke up and theres this 80 year old women sitting across from me and the rest of the train is empty. As I wiped the blurries out of my eyes I relize she's smoking a cigar!! then it dawned on me, SHE"S NAKED!!! EEEEWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Then you wonder why I jumped on this opportunity to get out of here for the weekend so quick....
Eric not going to be there? he said he was buying the beer...
But did you notice how that guy kept insisting on how great thing are here on the east coast with that other post I made...geees talk about head in the sand. thats the mentality I have to put up with here.
There no fish left, the raw sewage is flowing freely but everything is OK.
PLEASE SOMEBODY GET ME OUT OF HERE!!
oh yea my wife won't let me move
BUT SHE SAID I COULD GOTO THE GET-TOGETHER, hehehehe
OK this has nothing to do with fishing what-so-ever so I'll knock it off before somebody feels they have to say something agian..

listen buddy, if you married an Itialin girl from brooklyn (insert theme to godfather here) whose father had friends with names like Vinny, Tony, and Sal, you'd do what ever she wants too...I'd rather not try on a pair of cement shoes anytime soon...lol

Anyone traveling from Manhatten to Wyoming to fish with a bunch of guys he has never met, has nothing to prove.
If you can get a flight that arrives on Thursday night Oct 6th, I'll pick you up at DIA. Then we will head north to a place about as far away and different from New York city as you can get.

07-12-2000, 01:37 PM
I'm going to wait a little longer to get my tickets, the prices keep dropping so...
is an aquaview check in, or carry on?
Neal/CO
07-12-2000, 02:04 PM
I would put it and all your reels in one carry on bag, just to be safe. I,m sure you will have several connections and you don't want that bag getting damaged or stolen.

I fall into the maybe group. Will know by next month.

07-12-2000, 03:15 PM
Yeah they have a team, but they have trouble beating Kansas anymore. If you guys hold the get-together at Big Mac I would be interested.
Randy
07-12-2000, 05:32 PM
If the drought continues you may have to hold the gettogether on a large lake like Lake Powell.
EricCO
07-12-2000, 06:28 PM
Let's see....Wyoming or Mexico;
walleye or pescado that can kill you;
cold rain and probably snow or sunny hot days on the beach puking from too mas Dos Equis????
I hate tough decisions.

Relatively new to this website so remind me of the dates and I might drag a few Colorado butts up there. Thanks.

Hey guys I would love to go. I am a poor just graduated college student. I am in central NE. I don't want to drag my boat all the way there. If someone would be kind enough to let me fish out of there boat, I'm there. I would share in all expenses for gas, bait, tackle, etc... Also if someone is coming from the east and would be interested in riding together, I would help share gas expenses for that also. I think this sounds like a lot of fun. Take care fellas, and thanks for any help.

Goto Mainpage and click on Get-together. All the camping and lodging information is located there. There is also a Link to the Glendo state park website that contains a map of the whole park. We are shooting for the weekend of Oct 7,8th and 9th.
Shindig you can send me your e-mail address and I will keep a list of people who have boats and need a partner, and anyone who would like to attend and needs a boat. My e-mail is also on the get-together page.

Yea I travel alot and have it down to a science. (the aquaview thing ws a joke, I think that thing is going to rank up there with the color-selector that evreybody had to have in the 80's).
I will diffently go for arriving thursday night and catching a ride with you. thanks once agian....

Neal,
I have about a 95% chance of beign there, heck, just count me in. I'll drag my Crestliner and can take two others with me. If vertical jig fishing I could take 3 others. Since the lake will be down, I will be carrying my camera and taking photos of the structure for next spring/summer. I'll prob. be camping. Let me know if you need a ride up, I've got a crew cab.

Glad to here you are coming. I hope nobody took offence to my rant, I was just having some fun and trying to keep the get-together in people's plans.
Thanks for the offer. As we get closer to October we can all make are plans and pair everybody up. I would like to drive up with you, but I also promised Crash I would pick him up at DIA on Thursday the 6th. I'll just have to wait and see how this whole thing shapes up.
I am worried about the drought! Do you think we will have any problems launching boats?

07-13-2000, 09:59 AM
I could make a Powell get-together.
Gunga Din
07-13-2000, 10:16 AM
I spent the week of the 4th at Lake Powell. HOT, but good fishing (as always). That lake is in a serious gamefish/baitfish imbalance, so they recommend keeping all the stripers you can catch. You can make one heck of a fish fry with all those stripers.

Sounds like we should just charter a couple of large houseboats since no one can bring their boat. We could mount 20 or so rod holders, take on numerous kegs & 400 lbs of BBQ. Plus we could watch some football if the fishing sucks or it snows!
I have put in a call to the Swedish Womens Zander Club, sounds like they may send 2 or 3 dozen of their younger, less experienced members to be schooled by some willing American anglers.
Neal/Co
07-13-2000, 12:45 PM
You bring the BBQ. You would not beleive what some people out here think is good BBQ. Everytime I come back to KC, I go to Haywards at least two or three times.
Are you getting any rain? Last night was the first measurable rainfall we have had at my house in 30 days, and it was nearly enough. The state is calling this a catastrophic drought!

When is this get-together, and is it at Glendo? How long? The posts indicate room for others in the boat; my 2 best (boated) fishing buddies are swamped with everything from work (can you imagine...?) to having hardwood floors installed.

Goto mainpage and click on get-together. I have all the lodging and camping info, maps and my email there. If you would like to be put on the list for attendee's who need a partner with a boat e-mail me and I will add you to the list.

Neal,
I read (but neglected to capture) the hydrological (sp?) data for Glendo over the past few years. Expect the lake to be down, happens every year. Based on what I was reading it can drop 20+ feet and this is normal for that lake. The ramp at the marina will be the only usable one but that time of the year we will not have to compete with too many people. Don't worry, it will be fine. Put me down as having some room in both truck (4 available seats) and boat (2-3 available rod holders).
Neal/CO
07-14-2000, 10:03 AM
I have had several people express their concerns about the drought we are now roasting away in. While the picture is very grim at the moment here in Colorado, Glendo should be ok come October. I have talked to several people who have been going to Glendo for years and they say we will be able to hold the get-together dispite the drought. Fortunately Wyomings walleye resevoirs are much larger and deeper than Colorado's. Check out Dave Kooser's reply to this post #33.
Also for everyone thinking about traveling west to attend, " don't worry about cold weather." Colorado and Wyoming are real nice usually thru Thanksgiving. There are exceptions of course but winter here is usually January, Febuary and sometimes thru March. I know you have all seen Bronco games where it was snowing, but that is the exception not the rule. So bring some jackets but leave your icefishing apparel at home.

Five Anglers were found frozen to death today at Glendo when the followed the advise of the a man named NEAL/CO. Reports say the men lasted only as long as their supply of wiskey and bad colorado BBQ held out. hehehehehehe

Neal, are you sure you're not getting a kickback from local merchants on sales of long underwear and coveralls??? I think I need more time on the water so I have less time to think about conspiricies!!

That will be KC barbeque and I will make sure the Whisky doesn't run out.
