Electric Fillet Knives

O.K.. I'm going to break down and buy an electric fillet Knife. I'm not sure which brand, 12 volt, 110 volt or rechargable. Looking in Cabela's there are 6 different ones to choose from. Any help out there would be appreciated.

Target. Hamilton Beach. Less than $20. Works just as good as the ones with pictures of fish on them.

i think youre right. my advice is mr twister. there are a lot of cheapies that are not very good. im pretty sure twister is a hamilton beach. i like the longer blades if you get a choice.

I suggest going to ebay...in search window, type in "electric knife". about two pages will come up. several "mister twisters" there. I like my mister twister but also bought a GE from ebay as a backup. That's all my buddy uses and he swears by the GE. Some folks like the black and deckers too. Stay away from the hamilton beach with the "D" handle , they are great for turkeys but not good for sideways action in my opinion. I'm not convinced that the ones marketed towards us fisherman are necessarily better then the ones you'd use at home. The cordless ones are intriguing though.

Like anything, if you have a 12 volt you need a 110 volt almost need two so what ever you get, if your like me, you'll want and find a need for the other.

I buy mine at yard sales and second hand stores, usually can find them for a couple of bucks, I also have a 12V American angler I use in Canada, works great.

I have burned out enough knives to be ashamed. I have decided on "American Angler" knives - both the 110 volt and the 12 volt versions. I really am happy with them and they go on, and on, and on, and on, and ...................!

Hi. I forget the brand but if the oulet is not GFI I would stay away from the 110 volt, too much water around fish cleaning houses. The battery ones are real good too.

lots of opinions. bottom line is dont hesitate. they are the best way to clean fish i have ever seen. i'm lost without mine. they really work well and are efficient in that they dont waste meat. i have to say i have not been immpressed with the rechargeable ones yet. even the 12 volts dont seem real strong but seems lots of guys like them, maybe i should give them another look. cleaning fish is a lot tougher than slicing a turkey, the back bone give the knife a real workout.

Picked up an american angler cordless this winter from Cabelas. Suppose to last 40 minutes a charge. If it works as good as I hope, it should be alot simpler and flexible than looking for an electrical outlet or lugging a battery at the fishing site. The prices seem to be dropping as they were pretty expensive when they first came out.

I have stuck my nose in and out of "Central" a number of times, just to check things out. The truth be known is that I retired April 1st and the wife and I got soooooooooo busy that I have trouble finding time to sit and discuss things online. Honestly, I can't imagine how I found the time to go to work!!!! And that ain't no lie!!!!

We just returned from nearly a month in Florida. Did some saltwater fishing, touring and the Disney/Universal thing. Had a GREAT time and I am now waiting for the hard water to part and get the boat out of storage.

Got our second Grandbaby, Jack, in September and they can keep you busy too. It's WONDERFUL!!!

I have used a number of them and like the american angler best of all but that is my opinion only. We have used them for a number of years with really good performance and results.
