Hi fellow walleye hunters, I am inquiring what lures are best when trolling for walleyes. I have had good luck with using Shad Raps, Husky Jerks and Floating Raps. I would like some other ideas, because I'm currently expanding my tackle box and would like a list of other choices. Plus, what colors do you guys like. I tend to use more naturalistic colors, but should I add such color schemes as firetiger and other bright color patterns. Thanks
Storm Baby Thundersticks - metalic rainbow trout (xj139), firetiger (xj74), metalic pink sunset (xj150), metalic purple/red/specks (xj157)and solid flourescent red (xj48) - these are some of my all time favorites for flat line trolling over shallow flats. You will probably have some difficulty in finding some of these as Normark butchered the color selection when they bought Storm.
Best Regards,
FJH

Always willing to help anyone expand the old tackle box. Here are some of my favorites: Smtihwick Rattlin Rogues; clown, chrome/blue/org belly, chrome/blue back, firetiger, silv/blk strip, and Storm Thundersticks Jr. and deep Jr. (AJ and DJ styles); firetiger, glitter/red squigle, purple prism & and prism(if you can find them), hot gr. speck, metalic rainbow trout to name a few.
Of course, after Normark bought Storm the selection of colors for the T-sticks just doesn't compare. I still don't know why Normark canned all of the prism T-sticks. Those baits were the best thing on Bay de Noc. Oh well, time to fish. Hope that helps.

Be sure to add Wally Divers and Reef Runners to your list. Strange things, however, can happen. I took an 8.5 lb eye on a red and white Dardevle while trolling for northerns. And, I took a 7.5 lb eye on a white spinner bait while casting for largemouth bass.

1/4 oz. Hot-n-Tots : Firetiger, Metallic Green W/black dots, Silver/black back, Metallic Orange and Chartruese side, and definately Natural Perch. I also like the Deep Jr. T-sticks but they were already mentioned.
I think all the lures that have already been listed would probably work great but I also know that in order to aquire all of them you might have to take out a secound mortgage most of the popular lures are popular because of advertisments and TV shows, Please don't get me wrong I use some of the fancy lures myself but still fall back on the old favorites like the lures I make myself I am not a salesman by any means but I have been selling these rigs to people all over that are interested these lures I am talking about are of the spinner type but my personal garantee is there will be no bite offs!
If you are interested in more info email me at walleyerig@hotmail.com And I can send you a sample
Thank you

For us here in on winnebago they walleyes lastyear seemed to like purple hot n tots and the new (last year)black and purple prizm JR thundersticks. the thundersticks have been a main stay on the winne chain for a while but I think that will change with the new concept lures coming out like the hot n tot I killed on them last year early on winne than it went to the #5 shads plated colors black and gold . good luck and good fishin Mark

Don't forget about one of the best walleye baits. The line of Phelps Floaters. I believe you can view them at phelpstackle.com. I myself love to troll for eyes and have always had great succes on the original floater and the new Wobbler also.
Good luck fishing.

Look for the new Deep Little Ripper from Reef Runner. I predict it will become a main stay, and live up to the fish catching reputation of it older siblings. Scott's color selections just keep getting better and better. First ones will be shipped on Monday.
When we are fishing for walleyes we use little joe spinners. You can tip the spinner with a minnow, crawler, leech, etc. We have always had good luck with these. We back troll so the spinner is just above or dipping into the weeds. One thing we also do to make it cheaper is we make our own. Its not hard to do, but can be time consuming. Don't forget to use bait attractant (sp?)
