I want to use Fireline this year and I would like to know what color to buy. Smoke or Flame green? Does the color make a difference? I mostly fish gin clear waters for salvelinus fontinalis. Also, should I tie 2 or 3 feet of Vanish as a leader? Thank you for you experience. rawburt

I use a three foot section of Floro tied directly to the Fireline with back to back uni knots. I use the smoke color because half my time is spent fishing for trout also. If I were fishing entirely for walleye or bass I would use the Hi Vis fireline with a floro leader. That way I would see light strikes by watching the line. Trout hit jigs much harder, so I don't have to watch the line as much with them.

I have a rod rigged with 6/2 green Fireline and love it. However, it's not THAT visible. I have to watch it closely in stained water to see it at all. But with a line that thin, anything else would be impossible to see.
