I am hoping that for some reason my post was erased last night for some reason! I would like to know if anyone out there with all the vast knowledge off all of the great walleye fisherman knows of a number to add to the line back number for the conversion from using mono to fireline , I use the precision trolling book and is calculated for 10lb mono. If anybody knows please respond, I would be much debted to all>

Should be a pretty easy calculation. Two ways you can do it (without having the book before me) for a ballpark idea take a look at the correction factors for heavier line, put that conversion system in reverse and make an estimate how much deeper you'd go with thinner line, at a constant amount of line out. A more accurate method would be to generate a conversion equation (least squares fit) from a plot of the line conversion data. I did this for my uses as I use 20# test for salmon and use cranks early in the season..or I use the rigger rods for walleye trolling & don't change line. If you don't happen to have regression software available, let me know exactly what you want to do & I'll generate something easy to work with.

There is a conversion table in front of the Precision Trolling book you refer to which shows the conversions from 10lb line to fireline. This is not a constant amount. What I did for the popular lures that I use was look up in this table the conversion from mono to fireline and then plot on each lure dive curve a new plot for fireline. E- mail me should you have additional questions.
Maybe I'm not understanding the question. But to estimate the depth gained with 10/4 or 14/6 FIRELINE add 25% to the depth shown for 10# XT. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Thanks for the help I thought that it ws about 25% added to the number but was not sure, I thank you all for the help, I went and picked up the new 5 edition today I was working out of the first one since it came out I liked it because I laminated it I know people that go through a book a year, waterfroof bull they are not all that and a bag of chips. ETT hows the action on Erie? Good luck this year all and thanks Mark
Action on Erie (around the islands) is spotty. Some jiggin, but no one fillin out.

If you plan on using 10# fireline you can expect another 20plus % depth out of your crank. This is a general statement and you may get varied results by a few feet. You have the 4lb. diameter working for you and hence will cut through the water easier.

Thank you ETT , I can't wait to come over to Erie. Also how do you like your Triton have you had it out yet? I will tell you I have the 189 and I love it I would not take it over any other boat that I fished in It's fast and smooth ,I ran against a fisher yesterday with a 200 and walked away from him, he stopped me at the landing and looked at the boat and was amazed at the speed i was achieving. well have to go FISH have a good one and please keep me up to date on the big E Mark
