I read all the helpful suggestions for what baits to pull for 'eyes and I have been doing the same thing for years. However, the last two years I have heard that the "RAGE" on Erie are scorpine stinger spoons???? It's on the VHF, in tackle shops and on the docks. I was going to pick some up this year and I am wondering if I will be doing the right thing? Any help here?

Ranger - Theres a reason your hearing it every where you go-I can personally promise you you are doing the right thing. Michigan Stinger Scorpion Spoons are the Hot. Don't get me wrong you will still want to run Cranks ,but for sure later in the summer spoons will out produce cranks 5-1. I know I'll hear feedback on this.lol But I'll back it up....:)Early in the year like now I'll run both off a 3way on a Dipsey-works good. Good Luck

One theory holds that walleyes don't respond well to the more pronounced action (wobble) of most spoons. An adjustment to make is hook weight -- to reduce the pronounced wobble and make it more tight (as with most stickbaits), remove the hook and replace with a heavier one. Heavy hook, tight action -- Lighter hook, wider more erratic action. In spring go heavy to keep action tight.
Good luck.

Ranger,
You cannot beat cranks when the water is cold. I use cranks in April and early May. Then switch to the scorpions in late May and use them till Sept. Then switch back to cranks for late Sept. to Dec.
As for places to buy them. Sportsman Outpost in Vermilion has a good supply. (Denny Brauns place)
he is on the WC chat line about every night. His phone number is 888-855-9032. Also Hi-Way bait store in Lakeside-Marblehead carries a good number of them. They should be open soon. Phone 419-734-3601. Good Fisning.
