Im thinking of buying a combo at BP extreme 6 ft med lt with 1000 or 2000 stradic reel but i dont whether 1000 would be a liitle to light for jigging for walleye .so i know theres a lot people here that use shimano and would like a little input. thanx in advance

I have a Stradic 1000 and I wish I would of bought a 2000 just because it holds a little more line. It works just fine, no problems there, but sometimes I think I would like the larger line capacity.

I like the 2000 size...less line memory, more flexability with line choices. Your choice should take your line size preference into consideration. The Stradic 2000FG has a line capacity of 170 yards of 6lb, 120 of 8lb, and 100 yards of 10lb test. Nice reel.

If it's use is primarily for jigging then you'll definitely want a little more line capacity because you'll be retying often. You'd hate to get spooled late in a weekend of fishing by a big mama and not be able to play her out properly. My .02 worth.

Hi
I have a stradic 1000 and love it . I would not even consider the 2000 unless you need tons of line ( long line trolling).
It is lighter and when you are jigging you do not require very much line. The lighter reel matches
better with most rods and makes a lighter over all package, which is more sensitive.
Just my 2 cents worth :)

I have the Stradic 2000 and feel it's the perfect match for my 7' rod. But then Waliwz loves his 1000. So there you go--both great reels. Try them both on your rod and check the rod's balance. Another consideration is whether you'll be using mono or Fireline, as Fireline barely requires any space on the spool. I have Fireline 6/2 on mine, and it's backed with a bunch of mono. I also think the 2000 is more versatile, being larger. You can buy more spools and use the same reel for different line types/strengths. I'd buy the 2000 again.
