You must be referring to Lake Huron. You won't find salmon in LOTTW's Traverse Bay, but you'll find lots of walleye, perch, and northern. I think you read my reply in regard to Lake of the Woods and pulling cranks behind downriggers for walleyes.

Tom, if you are looking for smallmouth try out by the tip of the Mission peninsula. Not sure about salmon or trout locations in mid-summer up there. We typically fish Lake Leelanau and Boardman Lake/and River behind Union St. dam. Leelanau is a very tough bite and you'll work hard for even a couple fish. Boardman is much smaller and thus more manageable. Starting to put some fish in the boat more regularly since we've been there a couple yrs. in a row in late July. After a morning searching for walleye in the lake we drift down the river and catch all the smallmouth you can stand to reel in. Throw'em a crawler and set the hook. It's like fish in a barrel. Bring the kids. They can't miss. Mostly small ones - 8" to 14" but a nicer one every now and then. Launch is by the gate to Wastewater Treatment plant by train station. Can't think of street name off the top of my head.
