I just wanted to say thank you to all the anglers who made Jenn and I feel welcome in the MWC circuit. Often times, there are posts on WC that tell of how bad things can get between anglers of these big circuits, while on the water. I for one can say that I did not see any of that this weekend.
A special thanks to Brian of Fargo and your dad, was it Bob? (Sorry dad, I'm bad with names)...You know why I'm thanking you, but it doesn't need to be public knowledge..hahaha I got the pictures to remember that one on Friday...LOL!!
I would like to especially thank Eric Olson of Panther Marine and his partner Jason Przekurat for all their help. They made this trip a learning experience for us. Yes, we goose egged both days, but it wasn't for the lack of trying...we did manage to catch fish...just the wrong kind!!
There are so many people who made this weekend enjoyable, but geez, so many names/faces....it's hard to keep track of all of them!
I'm looking forward to seeing you all again at Big Stone...;-)
Congrats to the winners!! It was a tough bite, but you managed to show how it's done!!

Good Luck to all in the next ones!!!

Juls
P.S. If anyone jigged up a 6' St. Croix baitcaster with a new Mitchell copperhead reel at the clam beds (down close to the power lines, where everyone who passed over that spot got snagged)...think I could have it back? Dang rod holder...aaaarrrrggggg!!!! I just about had a heart attack when I heard that sound...kasploosh gone!! Sorry to all who where in earshot of my expletives..;-)

Glad you had a great time. I certainly felt bad that I had to missed this first tourney, but will see you at Big Stone. Can you give us some more info about who won and what the big fish were? You said tough bite, how tough is "tough"??

Thanks, Looking forward to Big Stone

Glad you had a good time. Like you, we had a very low catch again this year. What was your boat number? Would like to hook up at Big Stone. See you there.

I would add a thank you to Bill Guerinni and the Spring Valley Walleye Club and the 200 volunteers for another exceptional tournament. They have probably the smoothest weigh in of any MWC site . . . quick, fast and accurate. There was never a waiting line.

A special thanks to Motorguide and Mercury whose tournament trailers were working overtime to get anglers back on the water.

Lastly, this was one more tournament where MWC anglers distinquished themselves in sportsmanship. Whether it was a burning boat, angler overboard or a broken down vehicle, fellow competitors were there to help out.

SPRING VALLEY, IL - John Dalzot and Gary Dalzot Jr. of Spring
Valley, IL., topped a field of 225 teams, winning the Wildlife Forever -
Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) 2000 opener.
Beginning the MWC's 16th year, the MotorGuide/Abu Garcia Team
Walleye Tournament took place March 25-26 on the Illinois River in
Spring Valley, IL. hosted by over 200 volunteers from the Spring Valley
Walleye Club. The tournament is the state's largest pro-fishing event.
John and Gary Dolzat collected $16,000 for the win, plus a
Panther Marine Products gift certificate valued at $530 for the duo's
overall tournament total 2-day basket of 33.90 lbs. The winning MWC
team weighed an allowable 10 fish limit averaging 3.39 total pounds per
fish.
The winners fished at the narrows, right above the clam bed in
the main channel. They used Berkley Fireline 2 16-pound test both days
of the tournament. The first day the duo used three-ways with a
one-ounce jig on the bottom and a floater on the back of the three-way.
"We started the second day the same way we started the first
morning of fishing, but we switched in the afternoon to vertical
jigging" said Dalzot Jr.
"We began using 5/16-ounce jigs using minnows," added Gary
Dalzot. "We tried to use the biggest minnows we could find in the
bucket."

high winds, 693 fish were weighed on Saturday and 675 on Sunday for an
overall weight of 3,349.15 total fish weight, a 2.44 lb. average for the
tournament.
The Illinois DNR was again on site to assist at the Spring Valley
weigh-in. The fish were collected at the weigh in site in aerated
tanks, and then transported to the LaSalle hatchery to strip the eggs
and milt to use for restocking purposes. Wildlife Forever-MWC anglers
contributed $2,250 to the Spring Valley Walleye Club for conservation
work with the stocking project.
The second stop on the 2000 Wildlife Forever - Masters Walleye
Circuit is the World Walleye Championship, May 3-6, on the Mississippi
