After tying some leaders recently with 10# Vanish, I tested some for breaking strength. What I found was that the hooks' snelled end held well, but the loop end that attaches to the bottom bouncer broke at a significantly lower weight (5-6lbs). The loops were tied with a regular overhand loop as well as a surgeons end loop with similar bad results. The knot was dunked in water before working and cinching.
What could I be doing wrong,or,what knot could I try that might give me a stronger loop with this type of line?
Thanks in advance for any solutions!

Palomar knot works good, but come to think of it, I also use a trilene knot and it seems to hold up OK.

I found the same results with the over hand and surgeons and went to using a very small swivel tied with a Palomar knot.
