I'm just wondering if any of you have recommendation for time and charter boat for some salmon/laker fishing on Superior.

I want to bring my wife and some friends up there (I'm just north of the twin cities), mainly to see if they like that type of fishing. We don't have to catch a ton, but it would be cool if we got some. My Dad used to bring me to Lake Michigan, but I don't want to travel that far, for now anyway. I also love the North Shore area...

What is a good time of year to do it, and is Sept. any good?

Thanks for any help.

Not sure of a good time but if you dont mind camping ,also good fishing for salmon, go to Isle royale to stay over night.

Good Luck moreyes

Try First Mate Charters. I've been out (and done well) with Captain Dexter Nelson a few times and have scheduled a trip for this Sept 14. From my recent booking, I do know that he has a few open dates left in September and yes the fishing can be very good. Dexter can be contacted at 1-800-824-6466. Also, I have an article on Walleye Central on one of my trips with him. Check it out under the Pro Page. Best regards......Greg Clusiau

Call the Duluth Convention and Visitors Bureau and they will give you the complete list of Charter Boat Captins. Make sure you get a full time boat, some just do trips on weekends. The ones going out every day know whats going on. In September you'll get mainly lake trout with some salmon coho.

I live in Duluth, I'm not a pro, nor do I have an article anywhere, but when you find the "KDK" on Lake Superior , you find fish. He is the one to see.
I personally don't use a charter, I have my own boat. But if I were, this would be my #1 choice.
Good luck!
