LAST EDITED ON Mar-27-00 AT 04:18PM (CST)[p]Do I tie a crank bait directly to the line or use a snap? Thank you.
I always use the rounded end snaps, they allow the lure to have more action.
I prefer a locking snapswivel,it also gives the bait good action, you can also change baits quickly and the hooking lock doesnt seperate like some clasps do,the swivel or barrel keeps the line from twisting.

Tie direct w/ a loop type knot or a small light wire snap. Since a crank bait does not roll unless it is out of tune or trolled too fast, a swivel is unnecessary and will screw up the action of the bait. Look at the direction sheet that comes w/ the individual bait and the manufacturer will tell you the best way. I prefer the snap because I can change baits more quickly.
A round bottom snap is the way to go. A swivel is unnessary, and restricts action. Size of the snap can be adjusted to control the action (to a minor degree). Larger snap lessens action, smaller one increases it. (Same is true of hooks) TUNE THOSE CRANKS !!! that's more important than anything else. Good luck.
