View Full Version : Discontinued Rapala's
I saw a post on steelheadnet message board that Rapala is quitting the shad rap, fat rap, husky jerks and original floater on Dec.29,2000. This is a major bite. I admit I fish alot more for steelhead than walleye but always used alot of shad raps and floaters for walleye trolling. After looseing the best steelhead colores in the hot'n'tots, now this, .....really bummed with Normark.

I heard they were discontinueing Fat Raps and the Husky Floating Rap. Shad Raps and Husky Jerks are their bread & butter.

It is the shad rap gold/silver pattern is the only one their discontinuing.
According to an article in Fishing Tackle Retailer they are permanently retiring the Husky,Rattlin'Fat Rap and "silver gold" Shad Rap.Production ends December 31,2000.

Darn, how many lures does one need to buy to cover

I think they are talking about the old size 13 Husky floating Rap. A great lure in its own right. They aren't discontinuibg the Husky Jerk, it is their cash cow, now.
It is just the H13 Husky that is being discontinued.They are not discontinuing any of the Husky jerks.If you want anymore info you can contact Rapala at 612-933-7060 or www.rapala.com
Whew, it didn't really make any sense discontinuing those lines. I haunt the fishing aisles in the stores here and they seem to be the big sellers. Thanks.
I wouldn't worry about the Shad Rap, I've found some brilliant baits by ACE called a 4 1/4" Wobblin'Flipper. I got mine through Keough's in Michigan.
