View Full Version : fishfinders
Hey, can any of you guys that know how to find and catch walleye's help me with a little problem? I'm 98% convinced on a lowrance x-85, but now Raytheon has entered the arena. Are there any reccomendations out there? Who of you likes which one? Are there any others I should consider? Please reply, my kids are giving up hope.

I use the apelco(raython) 365 and i am very pleased with it. it costs less, but like any fish finder you have to learn how to read the individual unit. i like mine and i have a better choice than most people(tackle shop), but this is just my personal choice. get what you feel you like yourself, you are the one going to be using it. the smallness of the 365 is one reason i got it. good luck and good fishin. OH, be sure to read the directions of any unit you get before you install it. it helps too.

One thing to concider about graphs. Are the fish you're trying to catch always directly under the boat so you might see them on your unit? You might want to concider a unit with sidefinding features like the Raytheon 750L with side scan. To be fair, Bottom Line makes several good sidescan units, too.

It sounds like you are already on track with the X-85. That is a great unit and one that I have used for a while now. With 240 vertical pixels and high out put, the X-85 really shows you what's down there. It is very easy to use and can be set up many different ways according to your fishing preferences. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions about it.
Take a long look at the PinPoint 7520. I have both X85 and 7520 and the am giving the X85 to my kid and buying a second PinPoint for my console.

I just bought a Bottomline HR5300 only fished it once and loved it. Very easy to use with the ability to hunt/track the bottom with 3 different screens to view at once. I also think the side finding capabilty is great. Check it out before you buy a Lowrance.
