I was told that you can put a green type dye in your worm bedding (nightcrawlers) and they will turn green. has anybody heard of this. Where can you get it and how does it work.

I've used those before and asked the bait store how they did it. It seems to me that they said it was what they fed them rather than dye in the bedding. I think they said they add green food coloring to the cornmeal (or whatever that stuff is they feed them). I don't really know but thought it might be a different angle to research.

How about phosphorescent dye? Would be great for night fishing or muddy conditions. Can I get a patent for this idea?

Have fished with these worms last year they are called neons. Smallmouth bass love them so do walleye. Only problem I have with them is when you stab the worm its like they injected the worm with food coloring it gets on everything. They said something about coming out with orange ones to. The bait man said they feed them spinach and food coloring. Not sure if he's right. CJW

You can get the green nightcrawlers at www.dicksmithslivebait.com.
Side Note: Rosey Reds are just fatheads that have been "treated" to make them the color of goldfish, since it is illegal in most states to use goldfish as bait.
There is also another product that you can use to make your minnows flourescent pink (there is another color too..forget what it is), but the name of it escapes me at the moment (forgive my inability to remember this morning..haven't had enough coffee yet!). You can find that at ##### Smith's also.
I have seen the green worms before..they are kinda cute..:-) A MWC angler was using them last year on Green Bay, and they did quite well with them. The only problem I would have with them, is like it was said in an earlier post...they stain!!

How they actually make them green is not known to me. Sorry.

Good luck,

Juls
