Besides downrigging, does anyone have ideas on putting a number
8-9 shadrap down to 25-30 feet.

Anyone experienced with snap weights?

Snap weights will do the trick. I'd have to experiment, but 2 oz. connected to some relatively small-diameter line (I use 8 lb. diameter Power Pro) would be a good place to start.

6 lb fireline w/ a magnum Wally Diver will get you to that range w/o weight. I would switch to a deeper diving crank and skip the additional hardware.

Lead core might be another alternative.

Go to the following website: www.winnebagowalleyes.com and check out Zach and Skeet's Ultimate Depth Control. It works great as I have used this on Green Bay and Lake Winnebago successfully. Hope this helps.

if you are trolling and want to stay near the bottom try a shallow running shad rap dragged behind a three way rig. you can control how far it stays off the bottom by varying the length of the drop line to your weight. try 3,4,5 oz. weights til you find what works for your situation. this isn't a finesse presentation, but it can be very productive.

just wanted to add on my three way rigs i like to run the line to my weight lighter than my lure leader and main line. incase of a snag the weight leader will break before the lure leader and main line.
