View Full Version : PWT- Let's Speculate
This is the eve of the third and last day of the PWT championship
and I thought it might be fun to get some speculation going. Who do you think will be Numero Uno (#1) when it's all over?
Me, I'm going to go with Scott Fairbairn for several reasons.
The first reason being I never go with top dog in anything and he's the youngest guy fishing it but he's got a good record so
I think he can pull it off. Also, he said what he learned in 2000 was, don't leave fish to find fish. Heaven knows I've made
that mistake so I can relate to him :-) Also, he's # 13 which was my lucky number when I fished my first tournament this year.
Who are you rooting for???

Seeloff will be back at the ramp before noon eating pancakes in a RV with the winning fish in his boat.

With Ron Seelhoff having a 2 1/4# lead on 2nd and 2 1/2# on Scott Fairburn he is going to be tough to beat, especially when there aren't alot of big fish showing up at the tourney. But anything can happen on the water.
I got to set in on a seminar of Scott's this past spring. A great guy and great fisherman, not suprised to see him near the top.

First things first. My record is 1-0 as far as picking a champion after day two, two years ago here at Bismarck. I did predict this on the walleyecentral discussion board. This is my home stomping ground: I do know where these guys are fishing, their presentations and know their past history in the three previous championships held here; now out comes my NECK!! Gotta knife??
1. PETE HARSCH sorry but you heard it here live(or is it memorex)
2. Scott Fairbairn
3. Ron Seelhoff
Reasons: Ron has a big fish: 8.43 he also has only 9.64# for his other 9 fish. 1 # +_ average for his other fish.
Scott is currently on a consistent average of 7.75# per day for three days that's 23+ #
I saw Pete Harsch's basket at the boat landing and I saw the look in his eyes showing great confidence in what he did today. I talked with him. Told him tomorrows weather conditions and asked him what he expects for tomorrow; on Day three. "nothing will bother me tomorrow" exudes confidence. He threw back 14 and 15" fish to get his 17 inch plus fish and did have a nice fish over the slot. I think he will turn in a similar weight tomorrow that he did today hence 24.5 pounds
2. Ron will struggle with 5 fish all near the one pound average just as he did in day one and two: exception 8.43# thus 23+ pounds. Now that puts both Seelhoff and Fairbairn at 23+ pounds for second and third. Advantage Fairbairn: he's on bigger fish.
It's real hard to count out Plautz, Gofron, Gillman, Campbell, Skarlis, Kehl........and many others but with the slot limit here and the no cull rule they need one really nice fish and the others above them have to weigh 5 14 inchers. advantage top three!
Therefore I think the current 3 leaders are in the hunt. First place gets the $100,000 cash/boat motor and trailer package. Second also gets a boat motor and trailer plus cash. Third gets Cash.
I find it hard for me to vote against Seelhoff due to his past success on this system but like I say I visited with Pete Harsch a little and Seelhoff is a man of little words at least as of yet. Not talking, maybe cause he's on little fish with one exception.
Scott Fairbairn is here with his wife and newborn, hoping and wishing and working hard in trying to win this in their presence.
We'll see tomorrow. Will be up early and at the site in hopes of another ride with a pro as an alternate observer. Good luck to all contestants.

It is going to be between Seelhoff, Harsh, and Fairbairn. Mike Gofron as an outside shot. Seelhoff will need to catch some bigger fish tomorrow to keep his lead. He is fortunate to have caught the biggest fish. The other three guys have been catching more 17 inch fish. I talked with to three of the four guys. Pete Harsh smallest fish today was 16 3/4 fish. While Seelhoff has been struggling with 14 inch fish. If Seelhoff manages a couple bigger fish tomorrow he should hold on to the lead. But if he catches similiar size fish tommorrow he will have trouble holding onto the lead. It will be exciting!! There a few big fish still lurking. In fact, Dave Spaid caught a 10 pound fish Monday during prefishing. If someone catches that fish or one of her sisters they will become the champion!
I believe it will be Pete Harsch, he works hard and he is due to put it all together for the big payoff this year. He has learned a little more each year on the PWT and this experience will benefit him tomorrow. Go Big Pete..

This sounds like a bunch of kids looking over a scrapbook full of trading cards for the WWF.

Pro Angler Groupies. Wow. Can you bid for a lock of Gary Roach's hair on EBAY? He is my favorite.

Let me quess.. you can out fish any of these guys but didn't think it worth your effort to show up there.
Just love these posts with no e-mail and no name. Not enough maturity to stand behind their posts. Makes you wonder who the real kid is here.
