My wife and I are headed to the Black hills For a week of camping, Mountain biking and fishing. We are taking Trout and Walleye gear (her idea) I would greatly appreciate any inside info that could put us on a few fish. Here in northern IN the night bite is starting to take off in the shallows wading, is it that time in South Dakota?
Thanks in advance, Springbobber

There are many stock ponds for livestock in western S.D. that are good trout water (other species, too). Check the net to get S.D. tourism and shoot them your question. They are helpful folks. Have fun and remember to take along some ultra-light spinning gear with tiny Mepps spinners.

If you head to the hills, walleyes are a bit more scarce than they are out here on the east side, but you should have no problem catching trout on any one of the lakes out there, just talk to a few people to see what water's doing good at the time. I used to stay at Center Lake when we went out there, and caught loads of trout in the lake, and in the dams downstream on the creek, there are several small dams, and some real nice hiking if you a scenic trip.
Good Luck,

I think sharidan lake has some walleye in it, thats about the only place I know of in the hills that has any.
Trout, just look for water and you will find trout. Pactola resivore was always a good spot for me.
