A friend's husband from work had a stroke and lost all use of right arm. He is left handed and loves to fish is there any equipment manufactured for a one armed fisherman. Specifically a rod and reel combination.

I don't know where they can be had but I know there are automatic reels available. I saw a television show on our public television station and they took a fisherman w/ one arm out salmon fishing on Lake Ontario and he used a special electric reel. I know there are deep sea reels for extremely deep water and heavy baits that are electric too. do some snooping around esp in deep sea type outlets and I'm sure you'll find something.

I'm sure I saw something in the Cabelas catalog. Or maybe Bass Pro Shop. It may have been a couple of years ago. Might be worth a phone call though. Just a thought.

Gotta keep Fish'n

There are many options for those with handicaps, or who have had strokes. My girlfriend is an occupational therapist, and deals with situations like these day in and day out. In fact, she was previously involved with a fishing program in Madison, WI which aided anglers with handicaps. She would definitely be able to help, as she receives catalogs with products aimed at this situation. If you are so interested email me she can discuss this with you.
