I just purchased a new F-250 Crew Cab 4x4 truck with the 5.4 V8. I was wondering if anyone can tell me their experiences with gas mileage and towing performance with this truck. I pull a 16' Sylvan with a 40 Mariner. My old truck was a 92 F-150 Ford with a 351 and pulling my boat I was lucky to see 10mpg. I love the new truck for the room it has and comfort.I'm not concerned about the mileage just curious on what to expect. Thanks in advance.

Averages out to 14 mpg. best I have ever got was 14.6 but that was not towing anything and average of 70-80 mph. I like mine and hasn't disapointed me yet.

I have a 99 f150 4x4 extended cab 5.4, 3.73 gears ,auto, when I first got it the milage was 10-13 after 5-7,000 miles it got up to 14-17 , this was highway milage 75-85 whatever traffic ran . I purchased a K&N filter generation I kit and installed it myself ,it took about 1/2 hour everything fit perfectly( Mills Ford assured me it would not affect my warrantee ) the milage increased 1.5 to 3 mpg depending on conditions . Pulling my Warrior I now get better milage than when I was not towing. The bonus is that the factory filters are 18.99 even at Walmart the K&N is cleanable and garanteed for 1,000,000 miles, Check out their web site and the product is availible at Summit auto , JC whitney , Checkers , It is a bit more noisy when you have to mash it but it sure goes faster and more effeciently than it ever did before. Sorry for such a windy response.

Where is it you guys run with traffic (while towing) at 70 to 80 mph, or at 75-85 mph?

Are you sure about a warranty for a million miles (1,000,000)?

Ive got the triton V-10 in a 2000 F250 SD, Ive been afraid to check the mileage yet, Only had it a couple of months but im guessing right around 10. Not expecting much better but i may look into the K&N filter system. I obviously didnt buy the 10 for mileage but can't complain about the truck. Also got a '99
350 for work with the power stroke gets about 15 with a full 11' utility box and usually a skid steer tagging along, another winner as far as I'm concerned.

Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, wide open spaces, you have to go faster or it will take you 2 days to get anywhere.

Dont forget

Dont forget to subtract about 10% if you use the reformulated wonder water that passes for fuel in the Milwaukee area. Also it may be necessary to run some kind of fuel injector cleaner as the reformulated douche water cost me 600 bucks in EGR and Oxegen sensors and a fuel injector cleaning. You gas milage will be noticably lower with ref. gas. Thanks EPA

A friend of mine with the big Chevy has also told me he is getting about 10% better mileage when he fills up in Ashippun or up north, might have to give that try also. How many miles before you ran into the trouble?? Mike North Lake

Check out their Web site knfilters.com , 1,000,000 miles or 10years actually 25 cleanings for the filter element. you can just replace your filter or as I did do the whole unit.
