View Full Version : Lowrance X-85 Operation
Is there any literature out there on the operation of the X-85 other than the owners manual? If not do any of you have some tips on getting the most optimal use out of the X-85? Thanks!!

Performance will vary on different bodies of
water - but here's a few things that help maximize
the unit.
Set the gain to 31% - any arch with a 'shadow' underneath is a 5 pounder or better.
Use the fasttrac feature - you get almost flasher
type blips on the far right side of the screen.
Use the fastrac 'window' option when you want a
closer look at bait and how fish are relating to
the bait.
I always construct a display box with speed, temp,
depth and log - but that's just me. That info
helps to monitor trolling speed, estimate gas usage etc. Top end speed is 'close' and not really important to me, but it helps me to adjust
trimming, etc.
Hope this helps a little. It's a really nice unit.
