View Full Version : The Outdoor Channel...
Recently moved and got DirectV for the first time. Was disappointed that they don't carry The Outdoor Channel. I prefer it to The Outdoor Life Network because they have many more fishing shows. If anyone else feels the same way, go to the DirecTV web site - www.directv.com - go to "feedback," then to "programming" and request The Outdoor Channel be added.

Are you sure about that. Because I recently hooked up directTV and to get it, I had to buy the sporting package that includes all the ESPN's and fox netsports and a bunch of other progams. I asked if they would just sell me the outdoor channel and they said I had to buy the whole package. I Know dish network has it to where you can just buy that for $2 a month extra. If it wasn't the fact that I got the DirectTV for free with my house I would have bought Dish network.
Good Luck!!

Tim,
The Outdoor Channel is definitely not included. If you go to www.outdoorchannel.com, they say that that they are on every major cable system and Dish Network, but DirecTV doesn't think that there are enough people interested in hunting and fishing to justify them carrying it.

I had DirecTV, I dropped it and got Dish Network because they didn't carry the Outdoor Channel. I now have my 2 favorite channels: Outdoor Life Network and Outdoor Channel.

I had Outdoor Channel on cable, but the local networks had poor quality transmission of football games. Went to Dish, but the reception overall was not good. Went to DirecTV - good overall recption, good network transmission of football games, but no Outdoor Channel. Can't seem to win on this one.

My reception with Dish is far better than it was with DirecTV. Everytime it rained hard or snowed I lost the signal. With Dish I haven't had those problems. Steve W.
The installer worked 5 hours trying to get a decent picture on Dish, but couldn't - put it on DirecTV and I had a good picture. In this area, it seems some people have problems getting good Dish reception, and I'm apparently one of them.

Somebody didnt install your DirectTV Dish and peek the signal out properly. You need signal strength 90 plus. If you peek at 90 plus, your Rain Fade will be less than 12 minutes a year. If you live in a high snow/rain area get a bigger 24 inch dish. Installers not knowing how to peek for maximium signal strength will get you a picture but it goes quickly when the precipitation comes.
